What people are saying:

This church in Eastern Europe challenges me to think what more the North American church can sacrifice so the good news of Jesus can be fully proclaimed in the hard and the dark places. Certainly we can sacrifice even more so people will know God is present with them because we are present with them.

Terry Sanderson

I’m so happy to see this video highlighting the partnership The Alliance Canada is with good friends of ours in Ukraine. We can show vital support to sister churches in Ukraine who are impacting their nation’s recovery from this terrible war, in Jesus’ name.

Tim Crouch

Vice President for Alliance Missions

City on a Hill shines a light on the extraordinary courage of Christ’s followers who refuse to stand by as war rages. This gripping documentary unveils the powerful partnership between Alliance Canada churches and fearless individuals in Poland and Ukraine—ordinary people risking everything to bring hope to the hopeless.

Bill Finnemore

Cochrane, AB

This film opened my eyes to the everyday realities facing the global church and inspired me to think bigger about God's work in the world. I am prompted to pray with more urgency and discern how God might be calling me to participate in his holy work in Ukraine.

Milissa Ewing

When partnering with God means driving through a war-torn country, risking your own life, to bring basic necessities to churches, children and those that remain steadfast in caring for others. City on a Hill brings a perspective shift that is much needed in our comfy cozy corner of this world.

Amanda C.

Bowmanville, ON

Every time I watch this film, I am moved by the invitation from the Ukrainian church to “just be with us.” I often feel like I don’t have enough to give—their invitation makes me consider where can I be more present in my own neighborhood?

Clothes on racks for humanitarian efforts A rusted car in Ukraine

Global Emergency Response Fund in Ukraine and Poland

Since 2022, through our partnerships, our network has delivered over 100 humanitarian convoys to Ukraine—providing essential supplies to those affected by the conflict.

From emergency food and supplies, to educational programs for children, to refugee services like housing assistance, language classes, and trauma counseling—our partners have been able to respond to the crisis through the generous gifts and support provided by Alliance churches and members all over Canada.

Contribute

We’re looking to raise $10 million for the Global Emergency Response Fund. Any amount helps make a difference but steady, consistent giving empowers The Alliance to be the hands and feet of Jesus in crisis situations.

Family services

In Poland, our partners churches are helping refugees access services, receive trauma counselling, and build a new life.

Food security

Our partners are sending humanitarian aid into Ukraine: food, hygienic products, and basic supplies like cooking fuel.

Education

Our partner in Poland is providing education opportunities for over 100 displaced youth.
