This church in Eastern Europe challenges me to think what more the North American church can sacrifice so the good news of Jesus can be fully proclaimed in the hard and the dark places. Certainly we can sacrifice even more so people will know God is present with them because we are present with them.

This film opened my eyes to the everyday realities facing the global church and inspired me to think bigger about God's work in the world. I am prompted to pray with more urgency and discern how God might be calling me to participate in his holy work in Ukraine.

When partnering with God means driving through a war-torn country, risking your own life, to bring basic necessities to churches, children and those that remain steadfast in caring for others. City on a Hill brings a perspective shift that is much needed in our comfy cozy corner of this world.

Every time I watch this film, I am moved by the invitation from the Ukrainian church to “just be with us.” I often feel like I don’t have enough to give—their invitation makes me consider where can I be more present in my own neighborhood?
